Bilaran Sandbar

Bilaran Sandbar is a long stretch of white sand bar in Pagbilao Quezon. It is believed to have been created by the waves from the meeting of Pagbilao Bay and Tayabas Bay. Today, the sandbar serves as a tourist spot overlooking Mount Banahaw, Pagbilao Bay, and Pagbilao Power Plant.

Furthermore, According to Engr. Gerry B. Lontok, the crescent shape of the sandbar is caused by the stronger current from Tayabas Bay pushing the sand towards the middle(1).

Bilaran Sandbar or Biliran Sandbar is located 10km or 40 mins by boat from Padre Burgos, Quezon. It passes through Borawan, Puting Buhangin and Kwebang Lampas. The white sand bar emerges as the water recedes during low tide and the best time to go there is from 6-10 AM and in the afternoon during summer.

The sandbar is also rich in marine life with starfish, jellyfish and other small fishes swimming close to the sandbar.

Bilaran Sandbar Tour

We arrived in Padre Burgos, Quezon around 5:00 am and registered in the barangay hall of barangay Campo. Our organizer Mark Lester processed the registration and paid the P20 fee included in the tour package. While waiting for the boat, we took our breakfast and changed clothes for our boat trip. Around 5:30 AM, we left the port and arrived in the sand bar after 40 minutes of boat ride. The long trip to the sandbar was worth the wait as we were awestruck with the magnificence of the sandbar. It was almost high tide when we got there and the water was slowly creeping in and submerging the white sand.
